Can I Sell My Delta Airlines Voucher?
Whether you end up with a Delta Airlines voucher from COVID, a flight cancellation, or other circumstances, you might be wondering if you can sell it to get money back?
While Delta Airlines themselves will not exchange your voucher for cash, it is possible to sell your voucher and recover some cash.
Listing your unwanted Delta Credits on the Voucher-Bridge marketplace is fast and has a high probability of selling at the best price.
How To Sell Your Delta Airlines Flight Voucher?
You'll need the 13 character eCredit number (beginning with 006) and full name of the voucher owner. If you can't find your voucher credentials, you can also look it up with your credit card number or contact info on the Delta website here.
Here are the steps to sell your Delta Airlines flight voucher online:
- List your credit on the Voucher-Bridge marketplace by completing the form for vouchers found here.
- After your voucher listing is complete, you will begin to receive bids on your voucher.
- Once you accept a bid, the buyer completes the payment, and you submit the voucher details for validation.
- You will be paid in 10 working days after the transfer of the voucher to the buyer.
And that's it! You will make approximately 70% - 85% of the voucher value back and help someone else get a great deal on their flight.
Can You Transfer The Voucher To Someone Else?
Delta Airlines has three types of travel credits: Certificates, eCredits and Gift Cards. Only eCredits and Gift Cards are readily transferable. These types of vouchers can be applied toward the purchase of someone else's flight without restriction.
The name on the eCredit does not need to be changed to the name of the new recipient. Furthermore, the original owner of the voucher doesn't need to be a traveler on bookings made with the voucher.
Companion Certificates can be used for other passengers, however, there are more restrictions on flight locations and availability. You just need to make sure that the cardholder is making the booking for the new passengers for a compatible flight.
Note: Depending on the type of credit, it may be necessary to call in the reservation over the phone to have customer service apply the credit toward the purchase for someone else.
Delta Airlines Voucher Rules
What Is The Expiration Date?
Delta credits generally have an expiration date one year after they were issued. You can find that information on your original email or by checking the Delta voucher management webpage.
Delta Credits have a "Book By" expiration date which means you just need to book your flight before the expiration date, not actually travel before it.
Note that if you use more than one Certificate or Credit with different expiration dates, any residual value will be applied to the earliest expiration date.
Be sure to double check the expiration date of your specific flight voucher (many of the eCredits expired on December 31st, 2023). If you decide to sell it on Voucher-Bridge, the longer the time until the expiration date, the better chance there is of a successful deal!
Can I Exchange A Delta Airlines Voucher For Cash?
Your Delta travel voucher cannot be exchanged for a cash refund after it has been issued, but they can be redeemed toward a future Delta flight.
If you buy a flight with credits and then cancel, the credit will be restored with the same expiration date as the original one since all refunds are refunded to the original form of payment used - minus any cancellation fees.
Lastly, if you are not able to completely use the voucher before expiration, any remaining amount on the credit voucher cannot be converted into a cash refund.
What Is The Balance Of My Delta Voucher?
If you are unsure what the remaining balance is, or if you have a voucher to use in general, you can use the Delta Airlines website voucher management tool to search for it. Alternatively, you can login to your Delta account on the website or app, and look in your wallet under "Certificates, eCredits & Vouchers".
If you use the Delta website search tool, you will need to enter the voucher number, contact information, or credit card of the original account holder.
Keep in mind that any newly issued travel vouchers may not show up in their system for 24 hours. If you didn't receive an email, try checking back after one business day, or contacting Delta Airlines customer service.
Tips To Sell Your Voucher Successfully
Now that you listed your voucher sale, you need the best tips to set yourself up for success.
Reasons To Sell Your Flight Voucher
Nearly 10% of travel reservations end up getting canceled or rescheduled. If you find yourself in one of the following situations, don't worry, be happy… You can sell your voucher.
- You had a cancelled flight for an airline that you cannot use because the airline does not service the area you live.
- You have a canceled business trip but you purchased non-refundable hotels and flights.
- You have a family emergency after booking a non-refundable flight so you can't go on the trip anymore.
- Your flight was canceled due to a war or conflict in the destination country.
- You have an unused voucher sitting around and you would prefer to have some cash instead!
How To Use The Travel Credit
To use the Delta voucher, you simply enter the voucher credentials (13 digit credit number) on the checkout page of the Delta Airlines website for the ticket purchase.
Alternatively, you can begin by selecting the Credit or Certificate you want to use in your Delta account prior to searching for your flights, then click continue. You will then start a normal flight search process, but the voucher will be automatically applied throughout your search.
Note: that if you are using a Companion certificate, you will need to select the specific certificate prior to beginning your flight search.
If the value of your Credit Voucher is more than the flight, a new certificate for the remaining value will be issued to the original email to be used until the value is depleted.
