Sandals Cancellation Policy: How To Cancel Your Vacation
Thinking about cancelling your Sandals vacation, but aren't sure if it's possible, or how much money you may lose?
It is possible to cancel your Sandals vacation depending on how many days until your check in date. Generally, any notice provided more than 45 days is eligible for a 100% refund, but their exceptions. Contacting a Sandals Certified Specialist is the best first step if you need to make a cancelation.
If you have already paid for your vacation in full (or a majority of it), and your booking is not able to be refunded, you can list your Sandals holiday for sale on Voucher-Bridge to recover as much money as possible.
What Is Sandals Cancellation Policy
Sandals Resorts requires that all reservations are for a minimum stay of 2 nights, in addition to a $400 deposit per room (due within 21 days). This does not include any additional airfare charges that may be incurred if you book a package directly with Sandals.
Note that the full payment for your reservation must be completed 60 days prior to your check in date.
If you decide to cancel your Sandals vacation, you will get a full 100% refund if you cancel 45 days or more prior to your check in date. If you cancel within the 45-30 day window, you will get a 50% refund. Any cancellations made within 30 days of your reservation will not receive a refund of any kind.
The Sandals cancellation policy summarized:
Separately, if you choose to travel during the busy season of December 21st to December 31st, you will need to make an $800 deposit rather than the typical $400 deposit. In either case, they are both refundable if canceled outside of 45 days.
Exceptions To The Non-Refundable Deposits
The exception to initial deposits comes when you want to make reservations for the luxury level accommodations.
If you reserve an Overwater Bungalow, there is a $2,500 non-refundable deposit required at the time of booking. Reservations made for Poolside or Seaside Bungalows are subject to a non-refundable $1,000 deposit due at the time of booking. Note that you cannot transfer these luxury level accommodations to a lower class either.
Sandals Hurricane Policy And Special Situations
Sandals states in their Terms And Conditions that any travel plans that are negatively impacted by hurricanes or tropical storms will be treated as a Force Majeure event. This means that Sandals cannot be held responsible if your trip is cancelled or modified due to inclement weather. That said, they will make their best efforts to assist you in the event this happens.
If you plan to travel to a Sandals resort during hurricane season, specifically July to October, it is recommended to purchase travel insurance.
What About Travel Insurance?
You can purchase trip coverage insurance through Sandals for $124 per person. I would highly recommend getting the insurance as it not only covers against unexpected cancellations, but it also covers medical, luggage, tours, and interruptions. Especially consider the insurance if you are traveling during hurricane season.
If you need to cancel your vacation and you have travel insurance, you will get 100% of your money back for your flights and resort reservation (and other miscellaneous coverage). Note that the initial premium you pay is not refundable.
How To Cancel Your Sandals Reservation
You must notify Sandals as soon as you know you would like to cancel. Here are the best methods to contact them for cancellations:
Changes To Your Sandals Reservation
It is possible to make changes to your reservation without any fees if it's done more than 45 days from your check in date. Making changes between 45 - 30 days from your check in date will result in a $200 per person penalty fee. Changes made under 30 from your check in date are not allowed.
There are a few exceptions for reservations during the busiest times of year, you may need to request changes 120 days in advance to avoid the $200 penalty fee. Purchasing the trip coverage insurance will allow you to make changes at any time without additional fees.
Changes include things like number of nights, dates, room downgrades/upgrades, and name changes.
Sandals Name Change Policy
Changing the name on a Sandals booking is allowed free of charge if it is requested outside of 45 days from your check in date. Name changes will incur a penalty fee if requested inside of 45 days from your check in date.
Note that Sandals allows for one name change per booking. Requests for more than one name change on a booking will be made on a case by case basis. I would also recommend contacting a Certified Sandals Specialist travel agent to assist you in the event you need to change multiple names.
Can I Sell My Sandals Booking?
Yes, you can list your Sandals vacation for sale on the Voucher-Bridge marketplace. Since Sandals allows for name changes on their bookings, you can easily transfer a booking to another party.
In the event you have paid for all or a significant portion of your vacation already, and can't get a reasonable refund from Sandals, selling your vacation can be the best way to get your money back.
Depending on how many days until your check in date, you may need to pay a name change fee to transfer the booking.
